To create a new site
- Click the “sites” button in the sidebar
- Then click the “Create Site” button
- Type in the domain name of your website
- Click “Create”

Does my “Site” need to match my website’s domain?
Normally, yes, we strongly recommend that the name of your site in HTL BID exactly matches your domain name, but technically you can input any valid domain name on this screen.
The most common reason to use a different domain is to split your configuration if you have multiple publications that are managed separately. For example, perhaps your own the domain “mtb-sample.com” and you want separate configurations for your website and your app. While not required, you could choose two setup 2 different sites in the UI
- mtb-sample.com
- mtb-sample-app.com
Even though the “app” isn’t a separate website, splitting the configuration can be convenient for organization and change management tracking.
