What is the onboarding process?

HTL BID offers self-served and managed-service onboarding tracks. In either case, publishers can begin using HTL BID right away.

If a publisher is approaching BID self-served, they can begin with the Setting up HTL BID documentation section. The process below still applies, though with internal points-of-contact rather than an HTL Technical Account Manager. Any troubleshooting or help needed during a self-served implementation can be found through this form.

Some publishers contract with HTL for management of their onboarding. In this case, a Technical Account Manager will walk you through the below steps.

The onboarding timeline depends on a variety of factors, such as the implementation method and the customer's code deployment process. Overall, the process for one website can take anywhere from 1-10 business days, depending on complexity.

1. Preparation

Determine main POC, communication channels, user access and list of sites
Define the Ad Map
Identify Key-Value Targeting (slot and page-level)
Define the CMP strategy
Decide Monetization Partners List, Account Ownership, header bidding ID request process and other Services to be loaded
Google Ad Manager Setup
Plan Site Rollout Schedule
Performance Baseline Report

2. Configuration and Execution

Configure Sites in the HTL BID UI by following the HTL BID User Guide or having your HTL CS Agent setup the config for you.
Request Prebid IDs from the Networks selected in the Preparation stage. If you are using HTL's accounts, our team will request the IDs directly and configure them in the UI
Setup Prebid line items in GAM for header bidding
Ensure the correct GAM Ad Units are included in the Prebid Placement
Update the Ads.txt file with required updates (if applicable)
Update the Sellers.json file with required updates (if applicable)
Generate HTL BID Implementation Documentation For Developers in the HTL BID platform and send to site developer team or service provider
Configure HTL Exec if using that platform as well

3. Staging QA

Before the site is deployed to production, review the following steps:

Review the steps outlined in the QA Checklist
Reach out to the HTL Team for a final pre-deployment verification

4. Production QA

Once HTL BID goes live, there are additional checks that should be completed to ensure everything is running smoothly. Follow the next steps to complete the onboarding process:

Review the steps outlined in the QA Checklist

5. KPIs Evaluation

Communicate the KPIs your team uses to measure success and analyze site performance(this will ensure both teams use the same baseline as a starting point)
Discuss with the HTL Team the benchmark KPIs it sees most normally
Determine critical areas or opportunities to optimize with HTL BID
